Scaling Khaas Food from Phone Orders to a Unified Commerce Platform

Introduction:

Wafi Solutions rebuilt Khaas Food’s entire tech stack on .NET 8 and PostgreSQL — delivering a 44-module operations platform that unified B2B and B2C sales, automated order and stock operations across 26+ outlets, and eliminated manual order entry for a customer base that grew to 258,611.

Overview:

Khaas Food is a Bangladesh-based, safe-food eCommerce brand with outlets across Dhaka, Chittagong, Sylhet and more, built around one mission — getting pure, chemical-free food from farmers directly to consumers. Founded in 2015 by Habibul Mustafa Arman and Md. Tauhidul Islam, the ISO-certified company has grown to 150+ employees, 18,000 sq. ft. of operations, a farmer network in the thousands, and a footprint of 26 retail outlets alongside eCommerce, modern-trade partners, and exports to the US, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.

As the business scaled, the cracks became impossible to ignore — every sales channel, from walk-in customers at outlets and warehouse dealings to eCommerce, social media, and mobile app orders, ran in isolation, inventory was tracked separately per channel, and warehouse operations ran on paper. There was no central system and no shared visibility.

Khaas Food partnered with Wafi Solutions to build a centralized platform that connected all sales channels, automated order flow from placement to fulfillment, and provided management with real-time visibility into stock and operations for the first time.

Business Challenges:

  • No Central System for Multi-Channel Orders: Orders arrived across 5 channels — outlets, eCommerce, social media, mobile app, and warehouse pickups — with no shared system tracking any of them.
  • 4 B2B Partner Types Managed Without a System: Franchisees, distributors, corporate buyers, and export partners — were coordinated manually with no portal, no pricing structure, and no onboarding process.
  • Inventory Tracked Across Disconnected Records: Stock data across 26+ outlets and warehouses lived in separate records — confirming a single stock level required hours of manual cross-checking.
  • Legacy System Blocking Growth: The MS SQL Server and old .NET stack could not support multi-tenancy or cloud scaling — every new feature required disproportionate time and budget to ship.
  • No Reliable Pricing Consistency: 5 pricing tiers calculated separately on frontend and backend — customers regularly saw one price at browse and a different figure at checkout.

Technical Challenges:

    • Live Production Database Migration: Wafi Solutions migrated 171 database models from MS SQL Server to PostgreSQL — rewriting every query and schema without a single record lost.
    • Full Framework Rebuild on ABP 8.1: Rebuilt the entire backend on .NET 8 and ABP Framework 8.1 — delivering 119+ API endpoints across a modern async architecture from scratch.
    • Custom Solr Schema for Five-Tier Pricing: Apache Solr required a custom schema design to index and serve five simultaneous price tiers — regular, sale, dealer, franchise, and partnership.
    • Two Payment Gateways in One Checkout: SSLCommerz for Bangladesh and Stripe for international payments run as completely separate transaction flows, both resolving inside a single unified checkout.
    • Five User Types on One Codebase: Consumer, franchisee, distributor, corporate buyer, and export partner each carry different access controls, pricing rules, and order flows — all maintained inside a single codebase.

Solution Provided:

    • Full-Stack Platform Rebuild: Wafi rebuilt Khaas Food’s entire system from the ground up — migrating a live production database, delivering 119+ API endpoints, 171 database models, and a platform that now serves 258,611 registered customers without performance issues.
    • Unified B2B and B2C Sales Portal: Built separate digital portals for 5 buyer types — retail consumers, franchisees, distributors, corporate buyers, and export partners — each with its own pricing tier and access control, all running on one codebase across 3 sales channels.
    • Customer-Facing Web and Mobile App: Delivered a web platform with 52 pages and a mobile app with 58 screens across Android and iOS — letting customers place orders, track delivery, and make payments without any manual intervention from the Khaas Food team.
    • 44-Module Admin Dashboard: Built a single admin panel with 44 modules covering inventory tracking, purchase orders, manufacturing orders, warehouse transfers, and B2B partner operations — replacing the disconnected records that 150+ employees previously relied on.
    • Dual Payment Gateway Integration: Integrated SSLCommerz for Bangladesh and Stripe for exports to the US, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE — 2 completely separate transaction flows resolving inside one checkout with automatic reconciliation.
    •

Impact:

    • Order entry errors eliminated: Automated order placement through the web and mobile app removed phone and WhatsApp-based manual entry entirely. Customers now place, track, and confirm their orders without any admin involvement.
    • 3 sales channels unified into one platform: B2C eCommerce, B2B partner portal, and physical outlet operations now run through a single system — giving the operations team full visibility across all revenue streams for the first time.
    • Real-time stock visibility across all locations: Warehouse staff and management now track inventory movement, transfers, and requisitions in real time through the admin dashboard. Stock levels that once took hours of manual checking to confirm are now visible in seconds.
    • Reporting time cut from hours to minutes: The 44-module admin dashboard surfaces live sales, stock, and delivery data in one place. Management can now make same-day decisions instead of waiting for manually compiled reports.
    • 258,611 customers served on a platform built for scale: Khaas Food’s registered customer base reached 258,611 on a system that handles B2B and B2C simultaneously — a scale that the previous phone-based operation could never have supported.
